History and Training
Netball was a successful and popular addition to the Club from October 2011. It is open to girls and boys from the age of 7 to 17 years old. Our priority is to provide training of the basic physical skills and an understanding of the playing rules relevant to the game. The training is split into age groups based on the players age as at the previous 31st August.
Under 8s & Under 9s
We want the children to enjoy netball we try and we try to make it fun while learning the basics.
– We use small balls
– Hoops rather than posts
– Learn how to turn and pass the ball around the court
– Focus on movement skills – running, jumping and landing
Under 10s & Under 11s
We move onto focus on footwork, movement, and passing skills, such as dodging and defending.
– We use size 4 balls with the goal posts at 2.6m high
– Players rotate to ensure they are playing all seven positions
– We continue to teach the basic rules
Under 12s to Under 14s
The aim now is to develop these skills on specific positions of attack, defence and shooting.
– We now use full height posts of 3.05m with size 5 match balls
– Competitions follow the full rules of the game and players start to specialize in one or two positions or in certain areas of the court.

2013 – 2014 season summary
2012-13 season summary
The section continued to grow and we saw over 90 girls join us to play. We hosted 2 mini tournaments which was a huge success and more will be planned for next year.
2011-12 season summary
As this was our first season our aim was to encourage new players to come and try netball with the Exiles, either for the first time, or in addition to training at school.
The numbers steadily grew with over 65 children registering by the end of the season.
The aim for the future
To continue to grow and develop our netball section and to gain enough support / additional coaches to allow us to split the training groups further, so that we can develop the players to their differing capabilities. If you are interested in volunteering to be an assistant Coach for the netball training on a voluntary basis, please contact email@example.com for further information.
Also this year we are working with other regional academies to arrange mini tournaments and competitive games throughout the season and may be able to enter a team or 2 into the Dubai Netball league.
