While the Dubai Exiles men’s team was leisurely driving up the E66 for their 5pm UAE Premiership rugby final, the Exiles’ ladies were already on the pitch at Al Ain Amblers Rugby Football Club for the finals of the UAE Women’s 7s Series.

Exiles and UAE U19 International, Lara Botha, has been with Dubai Exiles RFC since 2011 and is a multiple winner of the Emirates Dubai 7s
It was a slow start for the Exiles ladies. Opening defeats to the Abu Dhabi Harlequins and tournament favourites, the Hurricanes, certainly didn’t dampen any spirits or enthusiasm.

A big win over Abu Dhabi ‘Bats’ in the Exiles third match of the tournament guaranteed them a place in the Bowl Final against Al Maha. The two teams had met on several occasions throughout the regular season, including a humdinger of a third place play off in The President’s Cup, held in Abu Dhabi earlier in the season.

In the final, Al Maha got off to a quick start, their pacy wing getting outside the Exiles‘ defence to open the scoring. However, unlike The President’s Cup, from then on the Exiles Ladies dominated the rest of the game running in four unanswered tries and lifting the Bowl Trophy.
