The Exiles Under 16 Squad is made up of both u15 and u16 players. We help and encourage these young players to continuously develop their understanding of the game of rugby.
Through both practice and match play they develop and apply tactical awareness, strategies, attack & defence structures as well as how to adjust and apply their understanding and skills as the game develops in front of them.
It’s this ethos that saw the 2019-20 squad lock out the 2020 HSBC Festival to an ‘all Exiles’ Cup Final and finish the season with an undefeated A-League campaign (https://dubaiexiles.com/team/dubai-exiles-u16-a/).
The 2020-21 season will see South African, DuRandt Gerber, the Exiles’ UAE Premiership winning team’s outside half, join the under 16 coaching group.
A former professional rugby player, DuRandt enjoyed many years playing professionally in Italy and earned a well-deserved Italy ‘A’ Cap when he represented the Azzurri in the Churchill Cup against Canada. DuRandt is currently the Rugby Development Officer at Dubai English Speaking College.
DuRandt joins James Pollard, Simon Ferguson, Patrick Meaney and Team Manager Claire Perry in what we hope will be another great season (https://dubaiexiles.com/best-club-rugby-season-ever/) for our U15 and U16 rugby players.
