The Dubai Exiles RFC ‘Fab Four’ received their UAE International Rugby Shirts this afternoon in preperation for the upcoming first International Sevens toTournament of the season.
It wasn’t only (left to right) Epeli Davetawalu, Jaen Botes, Robbie Sproul, and Carel Thomas that received there UAE playing shirts today, DuRand Gerber, the Exiles’ Premiership Number 10 and Head Coach of the Dubai Exiles RFC Under 16s also got his international shirt after being called up to the coaching staff of the UAE Sevens Squad earlier this year.
Robbie Sproul
Robbie Sproul has come through the Exiles’, very successful, player pathway and after his first season in the UAE Premiership with the club is going to be making the step up into international rugby.
Carel Thomas
Carel Thomas has enjoyed a number of seasons with Dubai Exiles RFC causing all sorts of problems for Exiles opposition. The Namibian 9 is fleet of foot, possesses a devastating step, and an electrifying turn of pace.
Epeli Davetawalu
Fijian, Epeli Davetawalu, has just finished his first season with the club where he made quite an impact! Epeli also coaches our Under 19 Girls who can often be heard, enthusiastically, cheering him on in Premiership matches.
Jaen Botes
Jaen Botes is entering his fifth season at Dubai Exiles RFC. The big hitting South African has previously represented the UAE in both Sevens and 15-a-Side rugby. Jaen will be looking to make his presence felt, yet again, on the international stage.
DuRandt Gerber
DuRandt has played professional rugby in Italy with Gran Parma, L’Aquila, and Lazio and also received international honours with Italy ‘A‘ in the 2011 Churchill Cup against Canada. He has also played Currie CupPremiership rugby with Griquas.
As well as a UAE Sevens coach, DuRandt is the current Exiles‘ Premiership rugby side’s number 10 as well as Head Coach of the Dubai Exiles‘ Under 16s, a role that he’s looking forward to continuing for the 2021-22 season.
