Nominee: Jack Luffman
Hi, my name is Jack Luffman and I have been a member of the Exile family for almost three years now. Having moved to Dubai in August 2018 I immediately joined Dubai Exiles CC and have been a mainstay for the 1stXI ever since; have been vice-captain for two seasons and for the 2021-21 season took on the on-field role of Director of Cricket working closely with the cricket committee, the coach, the captains and players.
I have played cricket since the age of 12 and along the way have represented and captained a number of representative sides including England Universities and Lincolnshire CCC and have been an overseas player in Australia for Swan Hill CC. At club level I have been captain of two Premier League sides, Boston CC and, up until my move overseas, Woodhall CC where I was Club Captain for 10 years. I am also a qualified Level 3 ECB coach and All Stars Activator.
These roles, particularly the latter one at Woodhall, has given me a plethora of experience in helping to run and develop a cricket club from bottom to top. In my time at Woodhall we went from nearly rans in the PL to annual title challengers which culminated in the title in 2019. The role also saw me take a lead role in the community and heading up programmes such as the ECB All Stars for 500-8 year olds and appointing annual overseas professionals and coaches to work with the 100 plus juniors at the Club as well as the senior sides.
Following the success of this season, in terms of membership and performance, the cricket section is at a critical point in its development. The addition of a junior section, or at least more juniors playing at senior level; the continued improvement of competitive performance; value for money for our membership base and becoming an integral part of the Exiles Club are the key areas of focus for us to become the number one cricket club in Dubai.
Yours in Sport,
Jack
