What a September it was, old members returning to the club, new members coming along and enjoying the club for the first time and old friends departing for new shores. All of that amongst a Covid pandemic that at one stage looked like it was going to threaten the existence of any form of sport at all.
Credit where credit is due, we know it has been a bit of a rollercoaster, but during the months of what felt like a very long summer, nobody even really knew if we’d get going at all. The September 4th start from the UAERF was very welcome, and as restrictions ease we’re hopeful that some competitive mini, youth and senior rugby is on the not too distant horizon.
A very excited face!
Try time – Covid style!
The Exiles’ mini rugby is extremely vibrant this season. It’s lovely to see so many new faces, parents and children, at the club enjoying themselves.
Some fancy footwork from young Hugo!
Smile for the camera!
We’re very lucky at the Exiles, so many fantastic volunteer Coaches, Team Managers and First Aiders all willing to give up their time to help these young players enjoy the game and the club. With the on pitch ‘coach to player’ ratios so tight due to Covid regulations, we’re thrilled that so many of our senior rugby players are also giving up their time to help on the pitches and make sure that everyone enjoys themselves.
Garance showing us her evasive skills and footwork!
Move over Dan Biggar!
Of course, it’s not just our mini rugby players that have been busy on the pitches in September, our midi and youth rugby groups have all been having a great time on those wonderful Sevens Stadium pitches.
Our u19 girls firing the ball around, left hand, right hand…
u19 Girls Coach, Epeli, regales us with stories of ‘the one that got away’.
Miss Pollard about to fizz the ball.
Justin Brits doing what all 10s do, relaxing while the forwards do the work.
