Good luck Robbie – and Thank You!
Dubai Exiles RFC‘s Robert Sproul heads off to South Africa tomorrow to take up a 6 month residency at the Stellenbosch Rugby Academy (SAS) 7s.
Robbie has enjoyed an incredible few seasons with us at Dubai Exiles RFC.
In the 2019-20 season Robbie played a significant part in the Dubai Exiles ‘Under 19 side that finished the season unbeaten and as HSBC Mini & Youth Rugby Festival Cup winners.
In 2020-21 he regularly appeared in the Exiles‘ UAE Division 1 and Premiership sides and clearly enjoyed the 10 man format of the game. He ran in 7 tries in both divisions. His performances in the UAE’s senior competitions quickly brought him to the attention of UAE National Coach – Apollo Perelini.
In September 2021 Robbie was one of four Exiles‘ players, along with coach, DuRandt Gerber, to receive international representative honours representing UAE RUGBY in Qatar at the Asia Rugby Sevens Trophy tournament. The UAE went on to win that tournament and Robbie finished as the UAE’s top scorer with 29 points.
At the start of the 2021-22 season Robbie was busy preparing with the UAE National Sevens side for the World Cup qualifiers held at Dubai Sports City. He bagged himself a very healthy 11 points in his Premiership outing for the Exiles against the Dubai Tigers in October.
As you can imagine, Robbie was an essential cog in the Exiles‘ squad that won the Emirates Dubai 7s in December, accelerating to the final score of the tournament and putting the result of the final beyond the reach of the opposition.
Robbie – Thank you for the seasons that you’ve given us. Have a fantastic time at SAS Academy and you know where we are when you want to play ruby in Dubai again!
Best of luck from everyone at the club!
