The Dubai Exiles U19 team came away from Abu Dhabi with the spoils after defeating Dubai Hurricanes U19 by 22 points to 10 in the Cup Final of the Abu Dhabi Harlequins tournament.
The Exiles U19 rugby side was introduced for the 2019/20 season and will be a permanent feature over the coming years. They’re already making a significant impact having entered two tournaments this season and come away as winners of the Cup Final in each. The Under 19 team is coached by both Don Muir and DuRandt Gerber and is clearly benefiting from the knowledge and experience both coaches bring to Exiles Rugby Club.
Don Muir
DuRandt Gerber
Don Muir requires little introduction. Don has had inarguable success at all age grades, always ensuring that the players under his supervision are technically accurate and well versed in different systems of attack and defense.
Don also led a successful Exiles tour to South Africa in 2016, playing 9 and winning 9 matches against tough opposition in one of the leading rugby nations in the world.
DuRandt Gerber is the current Exiles Outside Half (10). He has an exceptional playing career having played professionally for 10 years in Europe, been capped by Italy ‘A’, captained the UAE National Rugby Team in 2018 and has won everything there is to win in the UAE – the Emirates Dubai Sevens, UAE Premiership and the West Asia Premiership. An IRB Level 2 coach, DuRandt has also coached at club level and is currently pursuing his IRB Level 3 coaching qualification.
