Exiles Director of Rugby and UAE national team backs coach, DuRandt Gerber, will kick off the 2024-25 rugby season as Head Coach of the Dubai Exiles’ Under 12s.
DuRandt will bring an unprecedented amount of ability, knowledge, and experience to the Exiles’ Under 12 age-group.
Within the club he’s coached both the Exiles’ Under 16s and Under 18s to UAE ‘A’ League titles and numerous tournament cup wins including many titles at the prestigious HSBC Mini & Youth Rugby Festival.
In recent seasons, on the international stage, ‘Du’ has coached the UAE 7s side to multiple Asia Rugby Sevens Trophy titles. He is now part of, Exiles‘ Men and UAE Head Coach, Jacques Benade‘s international coaching team that steered the UAE to the runners-up spot in this year’s Asia Rugby Championship.
DuRandt, the Rugby Development Officer at Dubai English Speaking College, enjoyed a distinguished professional playing career.
He excelled in the Eccellenza league in Italy between 2006 and 2015 playing in the Italian ‘Top 10’ division for Frascati RFC, GranParma, and L’Aquila.
After stand-out performances in the Eccellenza league ‘Du’ was selected to represented Italy ‘A’ in the Churchill Cup against Canada in 2011. He also played Currie Cup rugby in his home country of South Africa for the Griquas in 2013.
With Dubai Exiles RFC, DuRandt has won everything that can be won in UAE and West Asia Rugby. The West Asia Premiership (2016, 2017), the UAE Premiership (2017, 2020, 2021, 2023), and the Emirates Dubai 7s (2017). He also captained the UAE National side to a 28 – 15 win over Gibraltar at Dubai Sports City in 2018.
There’s no doubt that the Exiles’ Under 12s are going to prosper from DuRandt’s input and guidance.
