On Saturday 12th October 15 Youth Players from the Dubai Exiles RFC (U19s & U16s) participated in a World Rugby L1 Match Officials Course – these players represent boys from three schools across Dubai (Dubai College, Dubai English Speaking College & Jumeirah English Speaking School) ranging in age from 14 to 18 years.
The Match Officials course comprised of both class time and practical learning activities to support the players in developing and acquiring basic skills to officiate safe and enjoyable competition.
This initiative is part of the club’s new ‘Youth Development Programme’ designed to enhance the rugby knowledge and opportunities for its players – the new skill can be used for the ‘Development’ or ‘Volunteering’ element of the Bronze International Award for 2019-2020 (Duke of Edinburgh) and in the support of younger players and squads both within the club and at their respective schools.
