Exiles U19 Girls take first soiree into Senior Ladies Rugby

Wednesday evening saw the Dubai Tigers Ladies, Dubai Hurricanes Ladies and the Dubai Exiles U19 Girls play a friendly and very enjoyable tri-tournament at The Sevens Stadium.

For the Exiles Under 19 Girls it was their first ever run out in Senior Ladies Rugby and they acquitted themselves superbly! For many of the girls it was their first ever exposure to ‘contact rugby’ and they held their own in a close fought contest with Dubai Tigers Ladies, eventually succumbing 17 points to 10 to their experienced opponents.

Next up for the U19 Girls Emirates Dubai Sevens champions was a match with the Emirates Dubai Sevens Senior Ladies champions, Dubai Hurricanes Ladies.

It was fantastic to see the Exiles teenagers, some as young as 16, taking on their more illustrious, significantly more experienced and much heavier hitting opposition. Despite the final 31 – 5 score line in favor of the Hurricanes Ladies, the future definitely looks extremely bright as the Dubai Exiles make a return to Senior Ladies Rugby in Dubai next season, a competition that the Exiles have been absent from for far too long.

Well done ladies – you did yourselves and your club extremely proud!
